The Solicitors Regulation Authority has published a warning notice on the promotion or facilitation of stamp duty land tax schemes, warning solicitors that some schemes may not be in the best interests of clients and listing a number of factors which may be relevant in considering whether or not they are. A link to the warning notice can be found here. While the warning notice is directed at solicitors, the issues raised by the warning notice will be of interest to anyone involved in property transactions targeted by promoters of such schemes. Please speak to Susan Perry, Senior Associate in Druces’ Corporate & Commercial and Taxation teams.
