The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has opened a public consultation to consider new guidance on data protection and the media. The guidance will be aimed at helping journalists comply with the Data Protection Act. Lord Justice Leveson recommended that the ICO issue specific and comprehensive guidance on data protection law and good practice, following his inquiry into culture, practices and ethics of the press. Further details can be found on the ICO website. The deadline for responses to the consultation is 22 April 2014.
