Druces LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Lloyd as a Partner in its Corporate and Commercial team. Daniel joins the firm with more than two decades of specialist experience in commercial contracts, digital content, intellectual property rights, consumer law and telecoms regulation.

Daniel’s career spans senior roles across the technology, communications and digital services landscape. Most recently, he was a Partner within TLT’s Technology and IP team, advising clients across the digital, financial services, retail and real estate sectors on complex technology transactions and commercial contracting matters.

Prior to this, Daniel spent several years at BT, serving as Head of Consumer Law, where he supported the launch and delivery of major consumer-facing platforms including BT Sport, BT TV on YouView and BT Mobile. His work included leading strategic contract negotiations and advising on large-scale IT and IP procurement, outsourcing arrangements and telecoms specific off-net deals.

Daniel is widely recognised for his influential role in the development of UK digital content law. He established the ISP forum to engage with government on the Digital Content provisions within the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and is the co-author of Blackstone’s Guide to the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (OUP, 2016). He chairs the Business Consumer Co-ordination Group and sits on the European Law Committee of the Bar Council.

Commenting on his appointment, Daniel Lloyd said:

“I am looking forward to supporting Druces’ already formidable corporate practice. Working with the team here, I am developing a digital regulation and technology capability to help clients navigate an ever-changing and increasingly complex landscape, and to achieve their own business objectives.”

Daniel’s experience is further reflected in independent legal rankings. The Legal 500 highlights his deep knowledge of contract law, particularly in IT outsourcing and complex mechanisms such as performance management, break clauses and risk allocation, and commends his ability to provide clear, commercially driven advice that is accessible to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.

Daniel’s appointment will enhance Druces’ offering in high-value technology transactions, regulatory matters and strategic commercial projects for clients operating in fast-moving digital markets.

Christopher Axford, Head of Corporate commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Daniel to Druces at an exciting time for the firm. His sector knowledge, technical excellence and proven leadership will play a key role in strengthening our technology and commercial offering as we continue to support clients operating in increasingly complex digital markets.”
