Druces recently represented a client in the sale of their hotel situated in a prominent East Sussex coastal town to a local investor. This complex transaction involved not only the sale of the business but also the sale of the Grade II listed freehold building, an adjoining cottage, and the transfer of employees to the new owner.

The transaction necessitated a coordinated multi-team effort, showcasing the diverse expertise within Druces. Jo Wooller from Real Estate lead the team with support from Cheryl Michalik from Corporate and Commercial and Phillip Vallon from Employment. Spanning nearly a year due to funding complexities, ultimately, we achieved a successful exchange and completion within a few short weeks of funding approval and very positive feedback from the client:

“You could not wish for more personable, professional, and efficient lawyers than the team at Druces who acted for us in selling a hotel in Rye. A complex transaction involving the sale of two listed buildings and a business transfer. In particular,  Jo Wooller and Cheryl Michalik’s diligence and patience were unfaltering – it took over a year. They are deservedly our trusted advisers, and we would highly recommend their services.”

The successful completion of this transaction is a testament to our firm’s expertise and unwavering dedication to our clients’ interest.
