Dealing with the affairs of someone who has died can be a complex process. The extent of their assets and liabilities must be ascertained; the tax position must be resolved and, ultimately, the net estate has to be distributed, either to the beneficiaries named in the Will or in accordance with the Intestacy Rules.

  • We advised the executors in relation to the UK estate of an American, valued at tens of millions of dollars who was resident in the UK.
  • We were instructed to locate the potential beneficiaries of an estate, tracing the wider family who had dispersed over Europe and America.
  • We acted on a particularly complex probate with continuing trusts and a number of Agricultural Property Relief claims.
