Druces is delighted to welcome Nigel Gordon as a new Partner in our Corporate and Commercial team. Nigel carries with him more than three decades of experience advising entrepreneurial and high-growth companies, Nigel’s appointment further cements Druces’ position as experts in Capital Markets and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) law.

Nigel is widely recognised for his ability to navigate the complexities of listings on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market, AIM, and the AQSE Growth Market. His client base includes issuers, brokers, and financial advisers across a broad range of sectors including mining, cleantech, healthcare, natural resources, property, and financial services.

Nigel has been a prominent figure in the AIM Market since its inception in 1995, offering strategic guidance to listed and soon-to-be-listed businesses. He has also acted as company secretary to several public companies, providing compliance and corporate governance support alongside transactional advice.

Recognised by Chambers and Partners as a “Leader in their field” in Energy & Natural Resources: Mining (International) and ranked in Capital Markets: AIM, Nigel is known for combining technical excellence with commercial pragmatism. As one client put it:

“Nigel gets the right balance between the black letter law and the commercial practicality.”

His major deal experience includes advising Pan African Resources on several different transactions, including its £107 million acquisition of Evander Gold Mines and subsequent £50 million rights issue, a £55 million vendor placing and its US$235 million court-approved share capital reduction. He has advised Cavendish Capital Markets on many placings . Nigel has acted on the IPOs and fundraisings of several life sciences companies, including Synairgen, Tissue Regenix and Oxford Pharmascience.  He also supported Kiwara in its £260 million acquisition by First Quantum Minerals via a scheme of arrangement. In addition, he acted on dual listings, such as Mydecine Innovations Group on Aquis, and TransGlobe Energy Corporation’s AIM admission via the Designated Market route.

Nigel’s sectoral reach is wide, but his hands-on experience sets him apart. His site visits to gold mines in Africa provided direct exposure to operational challenges in the mining industry, allowing him to bring a grounded understanding to the boardroom.

Nigel Gordon said of his appointment:

“I am delighted to be joining Druces and adding to its well-regarded ECM and M&A team. I look forward to introducing my clients and contacts to the dynamic and ambitious lawyers at Druces”

His arrival marks a significant milestone in Druces’ strategic expansion within the Corporate and Commercial legal sector. His blend of public and private M&A experience, coupled with deep capital markets knowledge, aligns with the firm’s mission to deliver industry-leading legal services to the UK’s most dynamic businesses.

Edward Gordon Hall, CEO of Druces, also welcomed Nigel’s appointment:

“We are delighted to welcome Nigel Gordon to the firm. His impressive track record and specialist expertise in helping companies to navigate Capital Markets and M&A further strengthens the depth and capabilities of our Corporate and Commercial team.”
